LUCKNOW: The regulation of building operations (RBO) wing of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has issued a stern warning to some 100-odd building owners to provide for measures making their buildings earthquake resistant.
Most of these buildings are already occupied for the past many years.
The notice, issued by LDA for Hazratganj zone, mentions that a survey had been conducted which pointed out that the buildings were not earthquake resistant.
Quoting several GOs, the warning note says that it was imperative that the building owner provides for the measures.
The LDA, complained the owners, also expects that they submit a copy of a certificate by an architect that the building was earthquake resistant.
However, the owners say that no architect will give them such a certificate for a building which is nearly 50 years old.
Also, they question whether they were expected to demolish their buildings and reconstruct them as per the newly laid down rules.
